Purpose of the Position:

The Academic Technology Support Technician revolves around the design, maintenance, and repair of the audio/visual equipment connected to a control system and computer in the classrooms. The successful applicant will combine technical knowledge of audio/visual systems with a commitment to excellent customer service.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide professional customer service to all Faculty/Staff members
• Answer & respond to Immediate Support calls by providing hands-on immediate support and/or remote repair for ETLC-supported classrooms and conference rooms and their Audio Visual gear
• Responding to and repairing issues reported through the ticketing system
• Repair issues reported during PM process
• In-depth troubleshooting and repair of PC hardware/software
• Replacement/upkeep of classroom A/V hardware. May include installation, deployment, refresh, and maintenance of a/v gear
• Minor adjustment and tuning of audio systems through the Tesira software
• Assist with system design/programming when needed
• Installation and termination of cabling, displays, speakers, and microphones
• Testing A/V equipment prior to installation
• Design/manufacturing of parts for various uses in classrooms
• Register A/V equipment with OIT through the NARF process
• Manage cleaning/organization of shop and storage areas/closets
• Maintain accurate inventory of all Classroom Tech assets
• Manage surplus excess, broken, and outdated inventory as needed
• Ensure work vehicles are properly maintained per motor pool requirements and fueled up for use
• Assist in interviewing & selection of student workers to complete department projects, including training and task assignments for students.
• Assist in the setup of commencement ceremony A/V equipment
• Participate in special projects as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• 2 -3 years of full-time verifiable Audio/Video work experience (which should include 2 years Customer Support experience)
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience with hardware and software installation
• Experience with hand power tools and ladders

Desired Qualifications:

• Associate degree is preferred
• 3+ years’ experience support of A/V technologies including video conferencing, audio recording support, remote desktop administration is desired
• Experience in higher education audio/visual support is preferred
• Experience soldering, cable termination and installation is desired
• Experience with project management is preferred

Published Salary (if available):

$38,000 - $41,000
