Purpose of the Position:

The Contracts & Grants Accountant will perform post-award administration for externally sponsored contracts and grants. This includes but is not limited to billing, financial reporting, and financial record management.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide accounting and billing information for new accounts established in Banner
• Review and approve requisitions and procurement card (P-Card) request
• Review and approve cost transfers for contract, grant, or cost share accounts (this includes operating and salary transactions)
• Prepare and certify monthly, quarterly, and annual invoices
• Monitor cost share accounts
• Monitor aged receivables
• Communicate with principal investigators, budget analyst, and departmental administrators to resolve any outstanding issues related to his or her contract or grant
• Prepare journal entries to correct and reconcile contracts and grant awards
• Ensure external funding is expended in compliance with all applicable regulations
• Prepare and verify that all final financial reports have been processed and submitted to the funding agency based on the terms and conditions of the award
• Research and interpret applicable changes to federal and state regulations and university policies and procedures for contracts and grants
• Close out awards and send final financial reports
• Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and reconciliations related to the annual financial statement audit and the annual Single Act audit (Uniform Guidance)
• Provide support for all audit samples selected by internal or external auditors
• Undertake the duties and responsibilities of co-workers during times of vacation and absences

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• 1 year of full-time verifiable accounting work experience
• Must have experience using Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to meet demanding deadlines is required

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with sponsored research accounting is preferred
• Banner experience is desired
• University experience is preferred
• Experience with 2CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance) & FAR Clauses is desired

Published Salary (if available):

$45,000 - $52,500
